More About Me & Contact

This website started in 2016 as a blog called Wellies on the School Run. In 2022, it became an author website where I share articles, musings, and details of my books.

My writing has featured on websites such as FarNorth.scot, and my poetry has been published by Northwords Now and the Scottish Book Trust. In 2020 my short story ‘The Book Fair’ was awarded runner-up position in Best magazine’s summer fiction competition. My articles have featured in publications such as West Word, PaperBound, and the Thurso Community Magazine.

I have made several appearances on BBC Radio Scotland, and have spoken at events at Lyth Arts Centre and the John O’Groats Book Festival. I have also appeared on BBC Breakfast News, Radio 4 and BBC News…5 Minutes On discussing the impact of the North Coast 500 on the far north.

I have a degree in Psychology, and ten years’ experience in Training and Development. I have worked as a mental health support worker facilitating women’s groups, grief cafĂ©s and anxiety support. I am particularly interested in the intersection of creativity and wellbeing, and am currently undertaking training in Health and Wellbeing Through Art-Making via University of the Arts London.

My novels Castles of Steel and Thunder and Pieces of Sky and Stone were released in 2020 and 2021 respectively. You can buy the books here, and read lots more about them here, here and around the website.

I am currently being mentored by author Malachy Tallack.
