Life Within Four Corners – October 2017

Welcome to this (late!) October instalment of ‘Life Within Four Corners’, where I share some of my favourite Instagram photos, and the stories that went along with them, from the preceding month. You can find out all about Life Within Four Corners here, and I’d love it if you joined in by sharing some of your favourite monthly photos and stories too! You can also get involved on Instagram using the hashtag #lifewithinfourcorners, and at the end of each month I’ll pick a few of my favourites to post up on my feed (thanks so much to those of you who’ve already been joining in!)

October has well and truly left the building, and it will soon be time to say goodbye to Autumn colours, crunchy leaves and spiced pumpkin lattes – but before all that there’s still time to enjoy some Autumn loveliness in photographs, words – and copious amounts of tea. Last week we were treated to an amazing sunset here in the north of Scotland – I’ve said it before, but Autumn/Winter is my absolute favourite time of year for Caithness skies. Nature quite literally stopped me in my tracks when I saw this from my kitchen window. There’s nothing quite like a Mama Nature intervention to make you feel alive!

Autumn light and beach walks were another feature of this month’s picture-taking – here’s my son, and my dog, enjoying the golden hour at one of our local beaches a couple of weeks ago. This one of my son saluting the sunset is my favourite photo from October 🙂 I love the way he does these things without ever needing to be asked to pose!

We also had a half term holiday to Mallorca recently, and you can see lots more photos from our trip on the article I posted here. Away from the tourist trail I took loads of other pictures and developed a fondness for pretty bicycles, street art and framed windows. Why does no one park pretty bikes against doorways where I live? 😉

Back home, we enjoyed a bit of Autumn treasure hunting – there aren’t too many trees in the north of Scotland but if you know where to look there’s still plenty of conkers to be found!

And we couldn’t resist a bit of leaf kicking on a walk last weekend. The trees are starting to look barer every day though – hashtag all the sobs and all the leaves are brown!

There’s still time for some walks in Autumn’s glory, and next time I hope to be back with lots of winter pictures, and maybe even our first glimpse of snow! (or at the very least, some frost). Hope to see you all then, photo takers – and in the meantime, here’s to another month of memories, adventures, and life behind the lens 🙂
